Celebration Committee

SEF is honored to fund so many initiatives during each school year and now we are making an effort to follow up and show the community these projects in action. The Celebration Committee has been formed and we are making an effort to reach out to each of our grant winners to learn more about the execution of their exciting project and to ask a few questions to see how we can best support the initiatives moving forward. This new committee is also hoping to make sure we're meeting the goals of the parents, teachers and students while celebrating the advancements SEF has aided in our community. We look forward to showcasing our grants and encouraging others to apply for funding towards their projects.

The Somers Democratic Club Dinner

What a wonderful night at the Somers Democratic Club Dinner, where the Somers Education Foundation received the Community Appreciation Award in recognition of our grantmaking and scholarship awarding abilities for the children of Somers. We have now awarded $1.6 million since our 1994 founding. I was so honored to represent SEF along with Lindsay Portnoyand Jeff Feldman. Friday, June 16 has been designated SEF Day in Somers and Sunday, June 18 has been designated SEF/Glenn Hintze Day (OMG! :)) in Westchester County. Thank you so much Somers Democratic Club (Lorne Robbins, Christine Robbins), Somers Supervisor Rick Morrissey and Westchester Legislative Chair Mike Kaplowitz!! We are humbled!! Congrats also to my friend Shari R. Gordon for receiving the Democrat of the Year award!
