Somers Education Foundation (SEF)
SEF is a not-for-profit organization established in 1994 comprised of parents, school representatives and members of the community that promotes community support for the Somers, NY schools. As of November 2009, it has awarded more than $600,000 across 225 grants and scholarships. Each year, SEF also awards the EXCEL scholarships (EXcellent Character, Exemplary Leadership) to graduating seniors as well as awards to graduating 8th graders.
Mission
The Somers Education Foundation (SEF) promotes community awareness and support for Somers schools by raising money for programs not funded by the school budget or other school groups. SEF’s objective is to support specific teacher and/or student initiatives and special projects which enrich the educational experience.
